Trichotillomania Facebook Group Helps So Many

Trichotillomania Facebook Group Helps So Many

Surrounding yourself with a person experiencing the same issues as you can not only lead to empowerment, but also to the knowledge of how to heal.  Facebook groups are a powerful way to seek help, learn from professionals and share your personal experience.  In 2017, I launched a Facebook group called "Trichotillomania, Thinning Hair, Hair Loss Support, and Solutions," after only a few short months the group tripled in popularity.  Today, the group has over 2000 members, encompassing people with hair loss issues, medical experts advice for hair loss, hair restoration specialists, natural hair loss advice, psychologist & psychiatrists, and hair industry experts.

This group is a place where one can share their hair loss journey, to hair growth success stories.  Losing one's hair is devastating; many use our group to ask questions about a diagnosis such as alopecia, its many forms, lupus, lichen planopilaris, trichotillomania, and genetic hair loss.  It is amazing how quickly both sufferers and experts weigh in on advice, nutrition, medication, and other means to help.  Often pictures are posted of a hair loss condition, or a before and after of a hair system that truly helped to raise a person's self-esteem.

I decided to create this group when I realized that my salon in Boston could only help the surrounding community, and I was receiving countless emails for help.  I invented people from all over the world to join our group and offer anonymity.  I vet each person that enters the group, and they must answer all questions before being approved.  Some slip through the cracks, and I immediately delete improper content or content not pertaining to the group discussion.  Additionally, I make sure there is a balance between people that have hair loss and vendors selling their products.  I prefer that the group contain a cross-section of experts that truly want to help and offer legitimate advice.

Hair Topper & Wig Making

Trichotillomania Facebook Group Helps So Many

There are other groups in the Facebook community that target specific types of hair loss or strictly post questions, our group addresses all types of hair loss, all types of solutions, as well as it creates a community to vent.  This is the one area of social media that I appreciate the most, it is a way to reach everyone and make a positive impact in their lives.

The group offers advice on hair systems, hair toppers, wigs, toupees, repairing wigs, and all aesthetic options.

Parents of a child with Trichotillomania, a hair-pulling condition, join the group the most.  This is a place where they can ask others about their child's condition, and they receive advice from parents with the same experience.  Sometimes just knowing this is another person that shares your journey is comforting.

Another part of the group that is surprisingly popular is the natural remedy posts, they are more popular than surgical or medical posts.  This is because many with hair loss have tried the conventional route to no avail.  The group is rich with content such as;  blog posts offering homemade hair growth recipes to head massage techniques.  I do believe that oils and other remedies should be cleared by a physician since they are very potent and can lead to skin irritation.

The Taboo Of The Hair Loss Industry

Unfortunately, many hair loss studios or clubs, take advantage of one hair loss desperation.  If they continue to glue down hair systems, or even worse, shave the client's own hair - they have a customer for life!  This is unethical in my point of view, approximately 90% of our clientele have the ability to grow back their own hair, so why destroy it in the process?  Additionally, there may be future medical advancements to grow back hair which may involve keeping the hair follicles healthy, there is no way we will be responsible for wreaking havoc on our client's hair.

At Noelle Salon, we are passionate about the health of our client's hair! We take every precaution to ensure healthy hair growth while wearing our hair system.  This involves consistent and careful installation and removal, treating the hair with growth factors, and teaching our clients the proper care of their hair system.

Please do your research before allowing anyone to glue or shave your hair.  Ask for a free consultation with an understanding of the end game - keeping your own hair healthy!  Feel free to show this article at your consultation.  We wish we could serve all people experiencing hair loss, but we are in one location!  If you have questions, comment below, I will do my level best to address all of them!

Hair Loss background

With Alopecia Areata, fungal infections, other autoimmune diseases, thinning hair by Trichotillomania which removes hair follicles by physical means. At Noelle Salon, we cover the various approaches to hair solutions to treat hair loss, female pattern baldness, balding spots, and other conditions to which you lose hair.

Hair systems and hair extension maintenance is part of the journey while wearing them. For Trichotillomania, as our hair grows they both will loosen, and service is required. The difference between a hair system and hair extensions for Trichotillomania clients varies based on the location of hair loss.
