difference between virgin & remy hair extensions

This seems to be a question I receive a lot as a hair extension vendor.  We will solve the mystery and help you to understand the difference in hair quality and why prices vary so much.  The biggest question is what is the difference between Virgin and Remy hair?  Understand that "true" virgin hair is completely unprocessed aside from possibly washing (raw hair), it is a bit more plentiful in darker shades but nearly impossible to find in light shades & blonde hair.  So in order to keep hair color, density, and length consistent, hair needs to be processed.

Trichotillomania Rises As Does the virus

During these unprecedented times, we have witnessed more clients suffering from Trichotillomania a BFRB (Body Focused Repetitive Behavior) in staggering numbers.  As more incidents of Covid-19 increase many of our clients have been anxious feeling out of control and who could blame them!  At Noelle Salon we are compassionately helping our clients to restore their natural hair style using our own brand of hair toppers as well as creating a barrier which allows the sufferer to be aware of their pulling behavior.  Awareness leads to a conscience decision to not pull since most pulling behaviors are done without awareness.

Working In A Hair Salon During Covid-19

In Massachusetts Governor Baker gave the green light for salons to open and my brain kicked into high gear.  As much as staying home was really miserable, I felt a protected in my cocoon - now what?  As the rules & regulations rolled out many stylists, like myself, became so confused - wear goggles, change smocks after every client, temperature checks to name a few.  Stylists banned  together via online forums to make some sense of the new rules to reopen, which definitely helped and created a sense of community.  No one wants to be sick or spread Covid and according to what other stylists are saying we are doing our level best to prevent the spread after all we stylists are trained in sanitation and I found my fellow stylists to be on board with the new rules & regulations.

Will Massachusetts Hair Salon Clients Wait for them

As a salon owner, trying to do the right thing by listening to Governor Baker's phased approach opening, I can't help but wonder if our clients will wait for us.  It appears that we will not open in phase 1 or possibly phase 2 (The Cautious Stage).  I have been juggling our clients appointments since March, and they have been very patient and understanding.  As May approached, many said our closure was ridiculous and they were coloring their own hair!  Many of our hair extension clients removed them, and worst of all our hair loss clients are suffering.

7 Reasons You Shouldn't Bleach Your Hair At Home

We are trapped with roots,  our gray sparkles are coming in and the salons are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic  and we want our beautiful blonde hair and/or highlights/balayage.  Believe me I understand, and my clients are reaching out asking how to color their hair at home.  Online hair color sites like Madison Reed are touting that you can bleach your hair at home, or watching a youtube video make it appear easy, but it is not.   You may have luck with a one process color, maybe if you are staying within the same level of color.  You may not have as much luck with covering gray hair, but some are willing to try.  But please stay away from bleach it is a caustic chemical which will not only damage your hair, but will damage your scalp too. At this time,   salons are not open to correct your color. Below are 10 reasons why you should not bleach at home.

Beware Of Brazilian Knot Hair Extensions

Brazilian Knot Hair Extensions have been popular for many years not only in Brazil, but in many salons throughout the United States.  We specialize in all types of hair extensions, but we pass on Brazilian Knots since they are very dangerous and cause severe damage to the hair follicle.  Overtime these extensions will cause Traction Alopecia which is hair loss due to tension on the hair.    Countless clients have come in immediately after application to have these extensions  removed.  The clients have complained about the pain they cause from headaches to intense pulling on their own hair,  just look at the below picture of one of our clients hair and the immense pulling around the extension and scalp irritation.  This is just one example, but this blog is to help you to stay away from this application.
